On October 16, 2006 the St. Stephen's School 4rth Graders held a food drive to benefit the Connecticut Food Bank. The regional center recieving the donations is located on Pine Street in Hamden.
In Connecticut 8.6% of households are hungry or "food insecure". Of food bank clients, 30% make the choice between food and thier medical costs. The Connecticut Food Bank relys on donations from individuals, organizations, and community action.

In a combined effort with St. Stephen's Principal Marie Testa, Local 2687 Executive Board Member Joe Anderson coordinated this year's event. At least two pick up-trucks-worth of canned and dry goods werre collected and deliverd to the food bank.
At the conclusion of the event, Local 2687 held a pizza party for the students.
